JUNIOR TEAM TENNIS
What is Junior Team Tennis?
JTT is a competitive team tennis program. In the Capital District we have 6 different divisions of play (10 & under, 12 & under, 14 & under, 18 & under – intermediate, 18 & under – advanced, Non-Advancing 19 and Under), making JTT a good fit for beginners all the way up through High School Varsity tennis players. JTT is really what you make it! We have highly competitive players on our advanced teams who are looking to continue building skills in their off-season, but many of our teams are just out there to have fun together and share in the love of tennis!
When and where are the matches held?
The JTT Season goes from November – March, with Play-Offs in April.* Each team is scheduled for 10 matches during the season, so there will be byes on some weekends.
Matches are held on Saturdays and Sundays at the following clubs: Sportime Tennis in Schenectady, Tri-City Tennis in Latham, Old Chatham Tennis Club in Old Chatham and the Saratoga YMCA in Wilton.
*If Sectional Championships are held, qualifying teams will move on to the Sectional Championships in July (date tbd).
*Qualifying teams will move on to the Sectional Championships in July (date tbd).
How do I join?
Before you can register, you will need a team to join. If you are a member at a local club, ask the front desk if they will be hosting try-outs or putting together any teams.
If you do not have a membership at a local club, please click here to fill out the pre-registration form and the JTT coordinator will be in touch to get you placed on a team!
Once you have joined a team, your team captain will help to get you registered.
Can I start my own team?
Yes, and it’s much easier than you’d think! To start a team you will need a parent to volunteer as the team captain (no tennis experience necessary!) Teams must have a minimum of 3 boys and 3 girls to play in the league. If you are interested in starting a team, please email us or call our office at 518-438-2039 for more information.
What does it cost to play JTT?
Players will pay a $30 registration fee to join the league, which includes league costs and prizes. Each team is responsible for paying court fees in advance (approximately $60 per match).
